Writing, Speaking, and Coaching Is Not About the Money

The following post/string of thoughts came to me the night of Monday, December 6th, 2021, just before I fell asleep, in one flash of insight.

The primary purpose of my writing, speaking, and coaching is not monetization. It’s to genuinely help others.

There Are Too Many People Who Don’t Care

I’ve seen many people who don’t care about truly helping someone — they want the money, and often don’t even deliver on their promises. I have plenty of stories around this, both from my own experiences and from the experiences of others.

I look at my writing, speaking, and coaching as more of a legacy/impact game than a monetization game. I mean that as sincerely as possible.

Look — not everyone agrees with my approach. Many will tell you to put profit first. But I have to tell you, I’ve heard of one too many stories of marketers, writers, speakers, and coaches who have gone to the “dark side” and resorted to some super disingenuous approaches to sell their stuff.

Sure, they make lots of money, but at what cost? The cost of their soul?

It also depends on your business model and the products/services you offer. If someone owns, say, a retail store, or perhaps an online shop selling…
