The World Is Indifferent to You
The world is indifferent to you. This may at first seem like a negative thing, but actually is one of the most liberating realizations you will ever have.
God forbid, let’s say you share the most heart-wrenching, devastating, tragic news with the world. Some people will send their condolences, and within a matter of minutes they’ll move on with their lives.
On an uplifting note, let’s say you are having one of the best days of your life. You then share your success with the world. Some people will congratulate you, and within a matter of minutes they’ll move on with their lives.
Either way, people don’t spend much time concerning themselves with your life.
As Eleanor Roosevelt said, “You wouldn’t worry so much about what others think of you if you realized how seldom they do.”
Since people are indifferent to begin with, there’s usually no need to hold back when sharing yourself with the world. Always be respectful, and be sure to share with the intention of helping others, but don’t be hesitant to get raw and real with the world. Be 100% authentic.
Once you realize the vast majority of people are indifferent to you, you’re free.
