Logan Paul Is Still Fake and Hasn’t Changed One Bit — YouTube Deserves Better

What’s most sad about Logan’s disrespect to suicide victims is that even after he showed his true colors, he barely lost any YouTube subscribers (if any). If he lost most of his YouTube subscribers, then he really would learn his lesson. If his followers were TRULY upset, they’d stop following him or at the very least stop giving him attention.

I’m being real here, and fair, so I want to acknowledge something important — Logan apologized for his mistake and even did his best to make up for it. I respect that tremendously. We all make mistakes. I lied to my college baseball coach’s face saying I didn’t drink a beer during a team trip (it’s against team rules), then ended up getting caught red-handed in my lie. I’ve regretted this for the past 7 years since I graduated college. I know what it’s like to make a mistake, say sorry, and then have people continue to be harsh.

I’m not being unforgiving. My challenge is that Logan clearly hasn’t changed. I quickly stopped by his YouTube channel, hoping to see more impactful videos like the one with Kevin Hines, and I had to stop watching one of his new videos at 35 seconds. I also had to stop watching some of his other videos as well. The truth is Logan is still as fake as he’s always been. You know what’s worse than someone who makes a bad mistake and then apologizes? Someone who makes a bad mistake, apologizes, but didn’t mean the apology. Logan apologized and made an impactful follow-up video because it was in his own best interests to do so. He knew that if he did that, he could continue making lots of money. Real people apologize and then change their behavior. Fake people apologize and then continue acting in dysfunctional ways. Logan is as fake as they come.

After I got caught lying to my baseball coach, I didn’t get any meaningful playing time. I learned from this experience that when you shatter someone’s trust in you, you lose your value to them. Over the past 7 years, I’ve lived every day with truth and integrity. I learned my lesson the hard way and then took action to permanently modify my behavior. I can’t say Logan has done the same.

I’m a kind person. I rarely say stuff like this. But as an author who speaks worldwide on anti-bullying and suicide prevention, I feel compelled to make a stand here. I’m upset right now not because of Logan’s original mistake, but because he didn’t learn his lesson and because he’s continuing to be fake.

If I don’t speak up and say something, who will? After my mom’s 6 and 7-year-old students were shot and killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School, my old elementary school, I made a promise to myself that I’d stand up more often for myself and others. I’m taking a stand against Logan’s fake apologies and I’m calling him out. YouTube deserves better.

From the bottom of my heart, I send Logan peace and love. I wish him continued success. I’m not, I repeat NOT, a hater. Having haters myself, I know what it’s like to be hated and I would never take the time to hate someone. My goal with this post is not to hate on Logan, but to stick to the facts and state the truth. This post came from my heart, and from the sincerest and most genuine part of who I am, so if there are negative responses to this post I’ll take it like a man and keep my head held high.

“Think of the person you are angry with, the person you cannot possibly forgive. Now surround them with the light of God. Each person does the best they can in every situation, given what they know how to do. That’s all you can ever ask of anyone.” — Dr. Wayne Dyer, 1940–2015
