Don’t Doubt Yourself: There’s Nothing Wrong With You
Yesterday I took a big step forward. I deleted some of my social media connections who were really dragging me down.
For years, I put up with them. Why? Because I value being kind to others and seeing the best in them. But I realized yesterday that sometimes I’m actually TOO nice.
If someone is going to judge and criticize you, what’s the point in even being connected to them? Constructive feedback is one thing, but I’m talking about people who live and breath criticism. They love to pull people down into the mud. (Yes, there are people like this in the world and it’s quite sad. Have compassion for them, as they have nothing better to do with their time than to verbally attack others.)
If a leech or a tick attached themselves to you, would you worry about hurting the leech’s or tick’s feelings, or would you quickly solve the situation by getting rid of them? The same is true for your social media connections.
I offer a lot of free value on social media. I don’t deserve to be connected to negative people on here. Neither do you. Today or in the near future, do an audit of your social media connections. It’s liberating and will move you forward.
